An EMBER TO REMEMBER: FAITH
Faith is a placeholder. It is a substitute for what one hopes to see or receive. It’s an intangible belief system that provides an expectation for things to change favorably.
Faith serves as an eminence to remain in high hopes. Without evidence and sometimes without reassurance, faith helps us to keep going.
Walk By Faith, Not By Sight
A popular saying in culture is, “Walk by faith, and not by sight.” Inspired from the biblical text, this saying is a friendly reminder to have faith in BEYOND what we can see. Not only beyond what we see, but also what we listen to, read, and experienced in the past.
As mentioned in previous writings from Planted Press, our circumstances are not always ideal. Faith is not a component that blinds us to the things we see but serves as a guide that things will work to our advantage.
For most, our faith is in our resources, intelligence, image, work ethic, connections to people, and so on. Though there’s nothing wrong with having confidence in these things, they are not “always” stable. When the things we are confident in do not meet our expectations, our faith becomes the holding place.
Faith is for things “beyond” our control. When what we possess, who we are, what we know, and those we are connected with do not suffice, our faith fuels the flames.
Faith Framed – The Ultimate Placeholder
Faith is the ultimate placeholder. Again, even in circumstances that are not ideal, it serves as the holding place where, in some way, a beneficial change will take place.
This includes faith to recover from loss, grief, failure, disappointment, shame, etc. It also includes faith to start over, heal, create, gather, build, move forward, be still, etc. Whatever one might need, their faith allows access to change the trajectory.
Through patience and the right time, faith serves as a holding place until we see the manifestation of what we believe—and believing what God will and can do.
Faith Framed.
Hebrews 11:1 | Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seem.
Romans 10:17 - So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
