An EMBER TO REMEMBER: Celebration
The hit 80's song "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang swept America and countries worldwide. The song topped musical charts, including the Billboards, hitting the number one song in the U.S. during its release. Celebration was also later recognized by the Grammy Hall of Fame and an inductee of the Library of Congress National Recording Registry, becoming one of the most culturally shifting and enthused songs of the 20th century. Celebration continues to be played and is the song of choice at many family gatherings, festivals, weddings, graduations, and other exciting events to rejoice or have a good time.
Celebration by Kool & The Gang is a friendly reminder to celebrate the good times. Though challenging, difficult, and unexpected circumstances are a part of life, so is celebration. Rightfully, we should celebrate or take joy in life's most exciting and invigorating moments EVERY chance we get.
Celebrating Yourself
Celebrating ourselves and the personal accomplishments or challenges we have overcome should be the norm. Though celebrating oneself is sometimes looked down upon and seen as vain or selfish – being proud (not prideful) about achieving something big or small is always worth something celebrating. From graduating from a two-year or four-year college program, finishing a weight-loss or weight-gaining program, learning a new skill to become more creative within a specific field, building a greater level of emotional intelligence and self-accountability, or choosing to rest over worry – WHATEVER it maybe should be celebrated, it should be commended.
Celebrating oneself is not selfish. However, there must be a healthy balance when celebrating one's success or accomplishments so that such things do not become our identities. We should all strive to celebrate how far we've come and how much we have overcome. Celebrating ourselves is simply proof of the progress we have made thus far, BIG or small.
Celebrating Others
One of the greatest ways to prevent us from becoming self-absorbed or self-indulged with ourselves is simply celebrating someone else. Especially celebrating or rejoicing with those in proximity. Celebrating family, friends, associates, co-workers, neighbors, etc. greatest moments. Making it a practice to celebrate others, especially those we are aware have overcome hardships or remained consistent through adversity can breed hope within our very selves.
It is a blessing to take joy in someone else's achieving moment. Although feelings of inadequacy, jealousy, and even envy can sometimes overtake us when seeing someone else doing well, celebrating people can release blessing over our lives, tangible and intangible. Take pleasure and celebrate in watching other people evolve, step into their authenticity, recover from addictions, get married and start a new family, start a new high-paying position, etc. – especially for those who deserve it!
Celebration Is A Gift
Celebration is a gift from God. It's a fruit of one of God's Spirits—JOY! One of the other fruits of His spirit is longsuffering (hardships). The world will never be absent of hardships, setbacks, disappointments, and unexpected circumstances—longsuffering is evident and will remain present. From national and local media outlets to digital social media networks, the world is always in an uproar and in distress. However, there is still joy, the gift of celebration.
Whenever we get the chance, we should celebrate (take joy, appreciate, commend, give thanks etc.). We should celebrate ourselves, others, and everything else God has graced us with while we have the time and chance.
CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES ALWAYS! 🥳🎉
